I would be remised if I didn’t mention that fact I do have one partner currently. We’ve known each other for 3 years. My ex and I broke up July 2019 so my wounds were still fresh. Being the determined person I am, I decided to get out there again. I highly recommend not doing this. Allow yourself a few months to heal at least if necessary. I know the world expects polyamorous people to fail at relationship but have no shame in needing time to repair your broken heart.

That August I found the Poly & Cocktail group on Meetups and thought this would be great for me. I told my husband about it and we decided to go. At first it was not going all that well. One of the guys there developed a major crush and he was not my type at all but I stayed polite. At first I was like “Why did I come? ” Almost immediately after questioning my intentions of coming, in walked Teddy Bear.

Teddy Bear is a tall drink of water (at least 6’4 or taller) so you can’t miss him. He is also married. Him and his wife had been attending these type of events for years. They are also part of the kink community. Just by the way he was dressed I knew he loved metal, hard rock and alternative music. After knowing him for so long I swear he only wears purple and black. He has one of the brightest smiles I’ve ever seen. Seems like yesterday when we met.

He has been one the best first partner(s) that I could ever have. Especially since I was still very broken up about my ex. He would listen to me, let me cry and reassured me that things will get better. I told him once that I wish I wasn’t so bitter and I should let it go. He then shared some of his polyamorous mishaps and told me to be kind to myself. That the breakup wasn’t entirely on me as to why it ended. That everyone has a choice. That it takes time to heal when you don’t understand what happened.

We have gone out on wonderful dates. I got a chance to visit places I never even knew were in my city. One of my favorites is Nowadays in Queens. This Saturday (Jan 29th) Teddy Bear and his wife are expecting and having a Zoom baby shower. They have been trying for awhile so this is a very exciting occasion. My guess on the gender is going to be a girl.
